Mr. Bonaventure Niyibizi is the Chairman of Board and a Consultant with Rwanda Mountain Tea (RMT) Ltd. Before joining RMT in January 2010, Mr. Niyibizi was the General Manager of Compagnie Générale de Banque (COGEBANQUE), the position he held from 2006 to 2009.
Mr. Niyibizi served as Chairperson of the Public Service Commission from 2008 to 2011. From 2005 to 2006, he served as Senior Advisor at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) based at US Embassy in Kigali, Rwanda.
He was Executive Secretary for Privatization Secretariat at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and Chairperson for Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) from 2002 to 2005. He was also Director General of Rwanda Investment and Export Promotion Agency (RIEPA) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry from 2000 to 2002.
Mr. Niyibizi was Rwanda’s Cabinet member from 1997 to 2000 as Minister of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives (MINICOM) from March 1997 to March 1999 and Minister of Energy, Water and Natural Resources (MINIRENA) from March 1999 to June 2000.
Prior to taking Government portfolios, Mr. Niyibizi was a long-time servant of the USAID at US Embassy in Rwanda as … (info not in the resume) from June 1988 to March 1997 and a Contractor seconded to the Ministry of Planning and working on Budget and Food Consumption surveys from May 1985 to June 1988.
Mr. Bonaventure Niyibizi holds a Bachelor degree in Agricultural Economics and an MBA (Finance) from former School of Finance and Banking in Kigali (SFB). He has a good command of English language and fluency in French.
Jérôme Gasasira Rutagengwa is Vice-Chairman of Board of Directors of Rwanda Mountain Tea Ltd (RMT). He served as Executive Secretary of Seventh-Day Adventist Church in the Western Rwanda Field from 2006 to 2008. He was Managing Director V.O.H Radio/Ijwi ry’Ibyiringiro from 2005 to 2006.
Rutagengwa served as Internal Auditor for Rwanda Union Mission (RUM) of Seventh-Day Adventist Church from 2000 to 2003. He was also Treasurer for Seventh-Day Adventist Church in the Eastern Rwanda Field from 2003 to 2005. He served as Director of Administration and Finance for ECOGER (Entreprise de Construction Générale du Rwanda) from 1991 to 2000. He was an Accountant at SRB (Société Rwandaise des Batteries) from 1988 to 1991.
Rutagengwa from 2006 to 2014, was a Board Member for COGEAR (Insurance Company) for which he is also a shareholder. He is also a shareholder of Goshen Finance (Microfinance). He is also a shareholder and a Board Member for different secondary schools including APADE and APACE.
Rutagengwa holds Bachelor of Business Administration from Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA) in 1989. He also obtained a Diploma of Education from Institut De Lukanga in DRC in 1981.
Rutagengwa has excellent command of French language and fair knowledge of English language.
Mr. Maurice .Y. Odera is Board Member of Rwanda Mountain Tea Ltd. He served at James Finlays Ltd in Kenya as Field Operations and Tea harvesting Manager from 1980 to 1989 and as Factory Operations and Processing Manager from 1990 to 2010.
Mr. Odera obtained extensive training on sustainable management in the tea industry at Cranefield University (UK).
Dr. Martin Obanda obtained PhD in Plant Biochemistry and Enzymology from Imperial College of Science, Technology & Medicine in London, UK in1990.
He is Director of Production andf Innovations at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology from October 2010. He is also Chief Trainer on Tea Value Chain challenges at TSEA Ltd offering training in Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. He served as Chief Trainer for Tea Science East Africa in Kenya from 2008 to 2010. He was also Associate Professor at Maseno University in Kenya from 2004 to 2007.
Dr. Obanda handled various portfolios in the United Kingdom and Japan. He was a British Council Fellow - HPLC Analysis of Green and Black Tea Constituents at Natural Resources Institute, Chatham, United Kingdom in 1995. He was also a Science and Technology Agency (STA) Fellow - Near Infra-Red Analysis of Black Tea Constituents at National Research Institute of Vegetables, Ornamental Plants, and Tea (NIVOT), Kanaya, Japan in 1997.
He has membership of professional bodies such as Natural Products Research Network of East and Central Africa (NAPRECA), Chemical Society of Kenya and Kenya Institute of Food Science and Technology.
Sri Lankan national, Joseph Callistus Ethelred Alles is a Member of Board of Directors of Rwanda Mountain Tea Ltd. Alles is a consultant to leading Tea Companies in Sri Lanka, Rwanda and Burundi. He is also a board member for Sorwathe Ltd and a member of the Consultative Committee on Research, Tea Research Board, in Sri Lanka from November 2014.
Alles served as Technical Consultant (Hired directly by the EU – AEC agent) in the Office Du Thé Du Burundi (Burundi Tea Office) from 1990 to 1996 prior to joining Sorwathe Ltd, Rwanda, as Director General from 1996 to March 2012.
He served as a Member of the Rwanda President’s Economic Advisory Council for five years and a board member of the Rwanda Tea Authority for seven years.
Alles served in many other African countries including Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Ugandan as director general or technical director or chief engineer from the 1970s.
He is a Chartered Engineer in the Institute of Engineers in Sri Lanka. Alles obtained Higher National Diploma in1968 from Staffordshire College of Technology, England in conjunction with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in London where he had also got his Ordinary National Certificate in 1965.
Alles has excellent command of spoken and written English language, fair speaking and reading skills of French language.
Mr. Eric Sabiti Bugingo obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration, option of Finance from former Kigali Institute of Science, Technology and Management in 2004.
He completed Masters degree in Economics Policy Management at Makerere University in Uganda in 2009. He also obtained Diploma in Business Management from Cambridge Tutorial College, London and airtraffic control certificates (Areodrome and Approah) from Civil Aviation Training Center in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Mr. Bugingo is the Member of Board of Rwanda Mountain Tea and the General Manager of Rubaya Tea Factory from January 2017. He was also Director of Gisakura Tea Company Ltd from March 2011 to January 2013.
He was a Board Member of Rwanda Tea Authority ( OCIR-THE) from January to May 2011. He is the Internal Audit Manager for Rwanda Mountain Tea since 2009. From October 2005 to August 2008, he served as Internal Auditor for the former Banque Commerciale du Rwanda (BCR), currently I & M Bank. He also served at Rwanda Revenue Authority as Revenue Investigation Officer from April 2003 to September 2005 and as Tax Auditor from June 2001 to March 2003.
Mr. Bugingo served at Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority as the Air Traffic Controller from 1998 to 2001. He has excellent command of English language and fair knowledge of Kiswahili.
Togolese national Komlam Elpidio Mensah is a member of board of directors of Rwanda Mountain Tea Ltd. Mensah is a consultant and partner at ATALEX, Chartered Accountants and Consultants, Belgium.
Mensah served as a consultant, accounting and tax account manager at SA Brussels Financial Services (BFS) from 2000 to 2013.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management from the University of Lomé, Togo, in 1996. He also obtained Bachelor of Technical Education Series G2-quantitative management techniques from Lomé in 1991.
In 1999, Mensah obtained a diploma of complementary studies of the 2nd cycle (DEC) in administration and management of companies at the Institute of Administration and Management of the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium.
Mensah has excellent command of French language and fair knowledge of English language.
Dr. Ivan Twagirashema, PhD, is a Member of Board of Rwanda Mountain Tea Ltd and its Non Executive Director chairing Energy and Mining Board Committee since 2015. He is the Executive Director at Rwanda Investment Group Ltd from February 2013. He is also the company’s Board Director and represents the interest of the holding in all its subsidiaries and other investments like Rwanda Energy Company, Peat Energy Company, CIMERWA and MIG.
Dr. Twagirashema is an Independent Consultant on Energy Projects since 2009. He served as Independent Consultant (through MIDA program) at University of Rwanda’s College of Science and Technology from June 2010 to September 2012. He was also the Chief Executive Officer at Rwanda Investment Group Ltd from November 2011 to June 2012. He also served as Chief Executive Officer at Rwanda Energy Company Ltd from March 2007 to November 2011. He was Chairman of the Chamber of Industry at Rwanda’s Private Sector Federation from 2012 to 2014, among other portfolios he previously handled.
Dr. Twagirashema obtained PhD in Industrial Chemistry and Catalysis, and Master’s Degree in Physics and Chemistry from University of Science and Technology, Lille, France in 2006 and 2003 respectively. He also has Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Pharmaceutical Chemistry "Albert Lespagnol,” France in 2002. He obtained Undergraduate Degree of Science of Matter from University of Science and Technology, Montpellier, France in 2000.
Dr. Twagirashema has excellent command of French and English languages.
